Staying fit, for business and life, should be a mantra for every entrepreneur. Sadly though, many times we let too many things take precedence over our health.
I was encouraged after speaking with Jay Scott, a personal trainer who battled food addiction, obesity and a binge-eating disorder — and overcame all of it. He has helped hundreds of people do the same with his information and training.
Jay is the founder of iScienceFit Online Personal Training and the host of the Full Disclosure Fitness Podcast. He has written for sites like The Good Men Project and Mind Body Green and has had over 30 TV appearances including spots on ABC, NBC and CBS.
Jay went from living in his parents’ basement at age 30 to starting the most successful in home personal training business in Lexington, KY, by the time he was 32.
In our conversation, learn more about how Jay:
- Grew up in poor area in Kentucky
- Became a bodybuilder in his late teens
- Got into the personal training industry (and moved from mostly in-person training to primarily virtual training)
- Started blogging from his perspective and expertise
- Developed a certification process for new trainers
- Focused on the science of fitness
- Began helping people alleviate entrepreneurial stress and overwhelm with proper fitness and nutrition
Jay says he “puts honor above fame.” He recognizes that building his business and reputation is a long game. He also shared this powerful quote from Kimanzi Constable, alluding to the power of persistence and patience:
